The Silent Scream - Sue Santi Ireson 04/11/2017 at Wisteria House, Newtown Lane, West Pennard, Glastonbury, Somerset BA6 8NL

Sue Santi Ireson, B.Ed(Hons)., MA Couns., Fellow BACP., SnrAccCouns BACP

Sue Santi Ireson's interest in child welfare and safety started when she trained as a volunteer youth counsellor in Reading in 1976 where she was working as a teacher in a downtown school.  She went on to become Director of a Youth Counselling Service in Maidenhead.  In this post she first developed counselling training programmes and focused workshops.

Sue is passionately committed to enabling people to move on from the trauma of past experiences, particularly child sexual abuse.  She has researched the impact of PTSD and the long-term unacknowledged trauma in the individual, the family and the community and the somatisation of early childhood abuse.  She has a private practice offering counselling and supervision and she is a consultant and trainer both nationally and internationally.  She has worked in the NHS and is currently working with the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, set up after investigations into the Jimmy Savile sexual abuse scandal.

In addition to being involved with a range of committees and work groups she was Chair of BACP's Division for Independent Practitioners from 1996-2000.  She has also contributed chapters to:

International Handbook of Workplace Trauma Support  eds Hughes R, Kinder A and Cooper G, Wiley 2012

Counselling in Different Settings  Reid, M, pub Palgrave 2004

Counsellors in Health Settings,  Etherington, K, pub Jessica Kingsley 2001

Sue is offering to share her wealth of experience and understanding with us through a mix of seminar and workshop.  It is relevant to all those working with children or adults who have been abused as children.  This would include counsellors and psychotherapists, clinicians such as GP's and nurses in Primary Care, teachers and social workers.

This is a day not to be missed!  Places will be limited so book early to avoid disappointment
